SkareCrows
Academics
Every few weeks, we divide the 8th graders up according to academic need. Some students are pulled for reteaching or more work time; students who are caught up are offered an extension activity. For example, Ms. Wells might pull students to work on a lab they haven't finish and Mr. Mielke pull for an essay, Ms. Wiggins teaches an extension class on fairy tales and I host a chess tournament. |
Houses
When we are not working on academics, the students are doing House activities. Every student is quizzed and placed into a different homeroom or House. The lucky kids get to be Skarecrows (my House); the unlucky ones might be Gummy Bears (Wells), Bonecrushers (Wiggins) or Ring Tailed Thieves (Mielke). We use houses for community building, homeroom and reward activities. |
